GRADING SYSTEM: 30% homework/ project, 10% mid term exam,10 % final exam,10% Driving Grade (based on at home practice of behind the wheel assignments), 40% Road Test.
ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS: Students are expected to come to class and driving with homework completed and prepared to participate in all activities. Students should bring a pen/pencil, textbook and three ring binder to class.
HOMEWORK: Generally, reading, essay writing and study questions will be assigned for class homework. A course outline will be provided at regular intervals so that students may refer to it to see when homework is due. Homework is 30% of the grade.
BEHIND THE WHEEL HOMEWORK will be assigned each time a student drives. Generally, during the summer session, students will drive at least one or two times a week during the school year and two to three times during the summer to complete behind the wheel lessons. Parental assistance is necessary during at home practice but another person may serve as the driving coach as long as that person is over the age of 25. If driving homework is not completed before the next scheduled driving, please send a note saying that and indicating when it will be completed. Students must complete behind the wheel assignments to complete the requirements of driver education. Students will be dropped for the driving schedule if driving homework is not turned in on a timely basis.
Any student who does not achieve a grade of 80 on the road test will need to repeat it until a grade of 80 is attained. Students must wait a minimum of 60 days to repeat the road test to allow adequate time for additional practice to strengthen driving skills.
