Dance Outline

Overview

This unit is designed to introduce student to the rhythmic movement, and teamwork of dance

Learning Objectives Rubric

 

Opening Shape

 

 

 

 

Hold for 8 Beats

 

 

 

 

Loco-motor movement 

Run, Skip, Walk Slide, Shuffle, etc.

3- different 6th grade minimum

4- different 7th grade minimum

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Non-loco-motor movement

Twist, Turn, Twirl, Bend , etc.

3- different 6th grade minimum

4- different 7th grade minimum

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Change in Level

High, Medium, Low

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Change in Pathway

Forward, Backward, Sideways, Diagonal

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Closing Shape

 

 

 

 

Hold for 8 Beats

 

 

 

 

8th grade will have all of the 7th grade elements plus they will need to follow a standard dance form ie.: waltz, swing, line are a few examples

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Each dance should last 2-5 minutes

 

You will need to turn in a written description of your part in the dance.  What you look like in the opening shape, where you are, what steps you do, and what you look like in the closing shape. You will also need to identify how you met the above criteria

 

 

 

 Assessment

40% Active daily participation and appropriate attire

40% Demonstration of the above skills

20% Paper, as described above
