EXPECTATIONS OF A DRIVING COACH

1.     Meet with the Driver Education instructor at the start of the semester.

2.     Read resource pages (in the Vermont Supervising Driver Practice Guide) which accompany behind the wheel assignments.

3.     Provide a safe vehicle with an operating emergency brake for the student to use
    for driving practice at home.

4.     Schedule one on one time each week with your student driver to do behind the wheel assignments. At least three hours each week is optimal.

5.     Sign the behind the wheel assignment sheet to indicate that driving assignments
have been complete.

NOTE: It has been found that students become more proficient and skilled drivers when they have been provided ample practice time. The Vermont Dept. of Education has suggested 20 hours as a minimum amount of practice time during the Driver Education course. Thirty-minute practice sessions work the best in the beginning. Provide at least an hour, minimum, each week during the semester If you are unsure about any terminology used in the resource manual, please give me a call for an explanation at 849-6711, ext 2375.
