Mrs. Boutin's fantastic fourth graders are back from Spring Break and settling into the final stretch of this school year. We are all excited about preparing to be in fifth grade.
We are in the middle of our Math Unit 7, Algebraic Thinking. The next unit we study is Wingspans: Measurement & Data Analysis. I know it's hard to believe, but this will be our last fourth grade unit!!
We wrapped up our study of Vermont Government. With Mrs. Collaro's class, we formed the House and Senate, or legislative branch. We introduced bills on cell phone use in the car, and possession of tobacco in a car with minors. Both bills passed both the House and the Senate. We are now waiting for the bill to be completed and signed by our Governor (Mrs. Delorme!) This unit will culminate with a field trip to the State House in Montpelier at the end of this month. More about that will follow!
We also started our Science unit on Land Erosion for which we have a fantastic kit to do hands-on experiments. We are very lucky to have such great Science Kits to use in our classroom.
In Music, we continue to practice with percussion instruments and giving poetry a beat. Who knows, you may see this in performance in May?
During P.E., we are playing floor hockey.
Have you been in our classroom lately? You should see our beautiful bulletin board that we created with our VT animals on display in their native environments. You are always welcome in your child's classroom!
